Everyone talks about them, but few people understand them well.
I’m talking about pour-over coffee brewing methods. If you’ve been using an electric coffee maker, you may be wondering what all the fuss is about.
If you’ve visited specialty coffee shops and your barista has brewed you an unforgettable cup of coffee in a pour-over method like Chemex, V60, Kalita, Aeropress, or even the well-known French Press, you know that the fuss is well-deserved.
But you may ask yourself, which is the best one for me to use at home?
And even more important, you may be asking yourself, “Could I ever brew a cup like that?”
Which coffee brewing method should you choose?
The good news is that I created a coffee brewing method video about this. The video (see below) goes into the basics of the pour-over methods that are easier to purchase, find filters for, and use at home.
I talk about:
- each method
- what it does for coffee
- why you might like it, and
- why you might NOT like it
And I do it in under 5 minutes.
While you’re watching the video, keep an eye out for the one point that most people overlook when deciding which brewing method is good for them.
Can you brew coffee as good as your barista?
Let’s go back to that idea about going into your favorite coffee shop and getting that fantastic cup of coffee made with a pour-over method. You sip that unforgettable coffee and then the thought hits you…
“Can I brew this amazing cup at home?”
The short answer is yes, of course you can brew amazing coffee at home.
The longer answer is…it does take some practice.
I remember the first time I got my hands on an Aeropress brewing method. I took all those parts out of the box and put them on the kitchen counter.
There was the main body of the method, the plunger, the filter, the filter basket, the funny stick to stir it with… and I got so overwhelmed I just put everything back in the box.
Eventually, though, I figured it all out with the help of a barista. I even learned to brew coffee I was proud of (and without spilling it all over the counter).
