Our virtual or in-person Export Coffee Workshop is ideal for you as you establish your business to export coffee from Latin America.
Learn to export coffee with us. We’ll help you define, improve, and amplify your coffee export business.
The workshop is conducted by Karen Attman, the founder of Flavors of Bogota and the Latin American Coffee Academy. She’s a coffee professor and the author of Permission to Slurp, the book about specialty coffee in Colombia.
In the Export Coffee Workshop, Karen will help you craft a personalized approach to exporting coffee from Latin America.
Before the workshop she will communicate with you by email to find out your main interests and concerns. Based on that call, the information covered during the workshop will be specifically what you need to know about exporting coffee from Latin America.
Have you asked yourself these questions about your export business?
- How much does coffee cost?
- How does scale affect how you export?
- Should you purchase green coffee or roasted coffee?
- Can you export coffee even if you don’t have an export license?
- Can you buy coffee directly from a farmer?
- Should you roast coffee at origin or in the country where it will be consumed?
How this workshop will help you reach your export goals
At the end of this workshop you will be able to:
- Understand the producer, their main challenges, and how it affects your business
- Understand the basics of how coffee is bought, sold and shipped
- Define what coffee you will work with – green or roasted, quantities, and quality
- Understand what it means to source coffee ethically

What this workshop will not do
Every export project or business is wildly different. I can guide you on how to export coffee from Latin America.
When it comes to importing, though, my guidance will be limited. Why? My clients come from literally every continent on the planet, and I don’t know the import regulations of such a large number of countries.
Additional information you should know to set up a successful coffee export business
You need to create a solid foundation for your coffee export business. That foundation includes understanding the basics of coffee production and processing.
Do you have a clear idea of where coffee is grown around the world, the basics of coffee cultivation and processing, how coffee is harvested, how roasting affects coffee tastes and quality, and what constitutes quality coffee?
Understanding those aspects of coffee will help you be successful in setting up your export business. We offer free articles as well as coffee courses that cover these topics. And as always, feel free to get in touch with your questions.
